But lets not start to bash the NFL; they have taken the steps to prevent more injuries from occurring. For example, moving kick-offs up 5 yards to prevent the "big hit plays"synonymous with them, and making helmet-to-helmet hits a penalty (and in some cases, hefty fine... James Harrison). Not only that, but they have increased the amount of money they put into monitoring the health of current and former players.

A better, safer NFL
In the past few years, the safety of the NFL and it's players in come into great concern. It has come to a point where even retired NFL players are filing law suits against the NFL for mistreatment of injuries and not taking steps to prevent more from happening. It is starting to tarnish the NFL Shield, which is held in high regard not only in the United States but worldwide.
This ad recently run by the NFL takes a very good side on the subject, yet ads some subtle humor. It has the feel of almost a PR stunt, trying to convey their message that they are doing what they can and trying to help. But the thing that made me and many other football fans love this commercial was the use of Tom Brady and Ray Lewis for humor. While first watching it, the woman at the beginning just seemed like an average mom, with what I assumed to be a younger son. She learns about all the new things the NFL is doing to enhance player safety, and at the end who is her son? Hard-hitting linebacker Ray Lewis, a well known rival to Brady. I didn't see that one coming. Al in all, great commercial, had all the parts to be very informative and humorous.
